Take a journey to an island perched on the edge of the continental shelf in the north Pacific. You will find a beautiful and expansive landscape home to arguably the best salmon and halibut fishing in the world. Vast populations of herring and needlefish mean that the islands of Haida Gwaii offer big fishing at its finest. Monstrous halibut and mighty salmon are caught all season long!
Queen Charlotte Lodge is your key to an unbelievable salmon and halibut fishing adventure. We can transport you to a place where the deep greens of the temperate coastal rain forests will fill you with wonder, where you will come face to face with an array of wildlife, and where the fish are always biting!
The Charlottes have been on my bucket list for many years, as has experiencing a first class fishing lodge. Queen Charlotte Lodge has to be one of the most iconic soft-adventure experiences in North America, and perhaps even the world.

Queen Charlotte Lodge is your gateway to adventure and the adventure begins before your arrival. Our fishing packages include return airfare from Vancouver on our very own QCL chartered jet! Once you land at the Masset airport, you will board a helicopter for an unbelievable ride to our beautiful lodge in Naden Harbour. Half the fun is just getting here!
We know you will travel far and wide for world-class fishing, and we believe there is no better place to cast your line than the fishing grounds at QCL. There are so many great fishing opportunities on Haida Gwaii. Our fishing grounds are designed to take full advantage of the natural conditions of the island and are located at the beginning of the salmon’s journey to spawn in freshwater streams and rivers. This means there’s always salmon waiting to be caught. It won’t be long before your arms are tired after a lengthy fight with a powerful Chinook Salmon! And if you are a sport fisher looking for your next prize halibut catch, the cool north pacific waters are home to halibut ranging anywhere from 20 to 200-plus pounds! While halibut spend a lot of time near the ocean floor, they will pursue baitfish and move between the depths and sometimes they’ll be found in waters as shallow as 25 feet.
A typical day of guided fishing is eleven hours on the water (with breaks on the fishing grounds on the MV Driftwood) however, you and your guide can create a schedule that works best for you! Our guides are experienced, professional, carefully selected and trained and will provide you with an opportunity to kick back and enjoy the comfort and success that they can bring on the productive waters of the Haida Gwaii.
Queen Charlotte Lodge also provides self-guided fishing. If you prefer the freedom of fishing on your own, your modern boat comes with a new GPS / depth sounder unit, high-quality Islander reels, and a detailed area and fishing techniques map. Moreover, the QCL Fishmaster is always on the water to ensure that you are fishing safely and successfully.
Queen Charlotte Lodge is a leader in providing a robust and memorable fishing experience. Many of our guests continue to return year after year because there is nothing quite like the QCL experience.
Whether you are a seasoned angler or a first-time fisher – we can accommodate all skill levels and love to share what we know. Your Haida Gwaii fishing trip will not only be a great adventure but a memory that you can cherish.
This is fishing Disneyland and National Geographic all wrapped in to one. Mind blown. You should go.
